Glacier picnics and South Pole Champagne: is this the world's best camping holiday?
Living out of a tent isn't for everyone, but hotels are tough to come by in Antarctica. The White Desert resort offers a glamping solution for adventurous souls who want to travel to the end of the Earth and still sleep in a proper bed at night.
This luxury camp is located in the interior of Antarctica and consists of heated fiberglass pods that are appointed with fur-covered chairs, bamboo headboards, and comfortable couches. Each pod has a full bath and kitchen, so the only time you rough it is when you step outside.
Activities at the camp are led by a staff of 11 who will tailor your trip to fit your needs. Choose from ice climbing, skiing, trekking, and flying over the South Pole.
White Desert is only open in November and December and is located at 71 degrees latitude. An 8- or 11-day stay costs around $72,000, but hey, when you're the only company on the continent you can set your own prices for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
